ANDREAS SEIBERT (Switzerland - 1970)
graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Zurich after studying literature and philosophy, Andreas Seibert lives and works in Tokyo since 1997. Freelance photojournalist for many international magazines, he spends much of his personal approach to changing society. Working on several projects throughout the course, he has been documenting 2002 the internal migration which upset China.
'FROM SOMEWHERE TO NOWHERE "
China is the scene of the largest migration in human history with 150 million villagers have left rural areas for cities. The recent economic crisis returned more than 20 million migrants in their campaigns after losing their jobs. In his series "From Somewhere to Nowhere," Andreas Seibert interested in following these workers in both cities when news of their return, often disenfranchised in the provinces.
This impressive documentary work has the subject of a book published in 2008 by Editions Lars Müller, a documentary directed by Villi Hermann presented at the last film festival in Locarno, as well as various exhibitions in eastern Switzerland and Europe.
In 2009, Andreas Seibert participated in the 7th Grand Prix International Photography Festival organized by the Vevey Images.
