Hans Op de Beeck (Belgium - 1969)
Hans Op de Beeck lives in Brussels. His work consists of sculptures, installations, videos, photographs, animated films, paintings and short stories. It uses both the minimalist language than the exaggerated forms, always with the desire to be precise. For ten years, Hans Op de Beeck focuses on the theme of our problematic relationship with time and space. He shows moments of everyday life, so as to capture the absurd nature of our postmodern existence.
ROOM
Room With Hans Op de Beeck examined the time a person sinks into a state of mental absence. This series of images is closer to painting than photography, because each of these interiors has emerged from the imagination of the artist, and has been fully realized in the computer. Framing refers to the Flemish primitives, making use of a central perspective, with a single point evanescent.
Each character now has the same look quiet and introspective, even a hint the Old Masters of painting. The artificial nature of the decoration is never denied. This series also refers to films, film noir, for use in black / white horizontal almost panoramic format.
Images Festival is pleased to present this work for the first time with all pieces created to date. In 2009, Hans Op de Beeck has participated in the 7th Grand Prix International Photography Festival organized by the Vevey Images.
