Before launching in February 2011 the 8th edition of the International Grand Prix of Photography in Vevey, Space Dock No. 1 presents the solo exhibition of Paulo Nozolino in tribute to the entire first edition of this competition, which took place in 1995.
Nozolino PAULO (Portugal - 1955)
the photographer Paulo Nozolino lives and works in Lisbon, after living in London and Paris in the 80 and 90. He has received numerous awards including the Prix Kodak in Portugal, the Leica Award Foundation in France. It was the first winner in the history of Grand Prix International Photo Vevey.
For thirty years, Paulo Nozolino tirelessly travels the world, trips that have largely fueled her photographic work. In 2005, the Museum of Puerto Serralves devoted a major retrospective.
SOLO
Paulo Nozolino talks about his work in these terms: "I have not formatted as the characters themselves, lost in the city, faced with environmental degradation. At that point, my images, they lose their identity. Charles-Henri Favrod, then president of the first jury Vevey, evoked a "spate of Europe".
For this project, Nozolino toured various European cities. In the manner of a travelogue urban, it gives to see Berlin, Trieste, Venice, Lisbon, Vienna, Budapest, Madrid, Paris with an unusual processing unit. Dark, sleek, stealthy, the photographer's eye awakens curiosity, confronts his subjects and questions to planning history.
In 1995, Paulo Nozolino was the Grand Prize winner of the 1st International Photography Festival organized by the Vevey Images.
